Book Chapter: Alternative Data Practices in China

Am very pleased to announced that, after almost an year, my chapter on the Alternative Data Practices in China is now published virtually on the Data Journalism Handbook 2.0 – the bible for the practitioners in the space. The hardcopy will be published later by the Amsterdam University Press.

It’s quite an honor to contribute to #DJH 2.0 and it also gave me a great opportunity to reflect on the short history (roughly 5-yrs) of data journalism practice in China, how it is unique in its own data ecosystem, and what are the lessons to be shared.

My biggest thanks to editors Jonathan Gray and Liliana Bounegru who gave me a lot of support and guidance to shape the chapter for a global audience.

Enjoy the read! Link: https://datajournalismhandbook.org/handbook/two/assembling-data/alternative-data-practices-in-china
